 Five Bosses
Five Bosses
This terminally obscure New York group, Brooklyn maybe, were among those who bridged the gap between R & B, doo wop and soul. The lively “You’re Gonna Need My Love” was more rhythm and blues than anything else but the lovely ballad I Don’t Want To Leave You Baby has a lot of doo wop credentials but the anguished lead vocalist is full of soulful histrionics. And gospel based fire. The label may well have been part of record mogul Tony Sepe’s musical empire.

UPDATE ~ Thanks to Davie Gordon for the recording date.
