Alvin Coffee
Bold records was one of several labels owned by the very interesting Louisiana music man Sidney “Count Rockin Sidney” Semien. He was a zydeco artist as well as an R & B one whose main claim to fame probably rests on his novelty composition “My Toot Toot”. But as can hear on many of his own records he was much more than that. His productions on artists like Charles Carlson, Ralph Young and the very obscure Alvin Coffee here show that he could wield a dab hand at southern soul as well.
"I Found Someone" is a pleasant funky little number which doesn't really work thanks to the messy arrangement. Much better is the flip Stone Blind which is taken at a medium pace and which features a rousing Coffee vical and some well pitched horns. A nice one for sure.
