Johnnie Hoyle

It’s a real pleasure to highlight this excellent lengthy track by the obscure Carolina artist Johnnie Hoyle as its long been a favourite of mine. The song is a well-constructed one and Johnnie’s vocals are demonstrative and full blooded - absolutely in the southern soul bag. The big horn laden arrangement is really well done. Dancer flip has had some plays.

The address on the label is Stanley, NC – but does the production credit to “Mark V” imply that the excellent Moses Dillard had something to do with it?
