J B & The V-Kings

Look on the internet and you’ll find that “Lazy Soul” is much in evidence, and while it’s a laid back jazzy instrumental of considerable appeal, the other side if far superior to my ears. ListenI’ve Got Dreams (To Remember) is one of the best loved and most covered songs in Otis Redding’s extensive catalogue, with Ernie Johnson, Delbert McClinton and Charles Mann perhaps being the greatest beneficiaries. But this cut by the obscure J B has its moments. The arrangement is pretty much the Big O’s one, which is a recommendation of course, especially the rather “cheesy” organ, and I like the vocal a lot – especially the part where he snaps out “I’ve got 20 / 20 vision”.

More info on this artist would be welcome.
