Better known as one half of Ben and Spence,
James had only this one 45 as a solo artist before he teamed up with Ben
Moore. But in truth 
Get
It Over could have been marketed as another of
the duos as the backing singers are so much in the limelight. In any event
this is a fine Muscle Shoals ballad in the grand tradition. I love the muted
trumpet and organ accompaniment – but
the best part is undoubtedly Spence’s downscale wail as he ends the
verses. Very nice production from Buddy Buie too.
