Billy Leonard
New York’s Fairmount label is one that I’ve explored before, featuring Eddie Jones’ wonderful 45 for example. This one, cut in Philly, isn’t perhaps as well known but Tears For Love is one of those nagging tracks that gets right under your skin after a couple of plays. There’s something about Leonard’s tone and vocal mannerisms I really like and of course the mournful lyric and stop/go arrangement work well. His only 45 that I’m aware of.
