The guys who love these late night ballads with the most fervour are the LA low riders – but I’m a big fan as well. 
I Am In Love is a classic of the genre, with its oh so simple chord structure and arrangement, and tastefully double tracked vocals. Is this doo wop? R & B? Early soul? It doesn’t really matter of course, the music is just fine. LA’s Cyclone label was owned by the highly talented producer/arranger Cliff Chambers, who presided over so many excellent sides throughout the 60s and 70s. The name of James Carmichael on this 45 is proof of quality too.
