Billy Mitchell
This isn’t the well known jazz man out of Chicago or the Clovers member but another artist entirely – and I believe this is his only release. “A Lot Of Woman” is a fairly routine uptempo number with some good horn charts, but the other side Rolling Stone is a considerable improvement. This well constructed song (by Billy himself) is a tasteful ballad on which his demonstrative tenor vocal leads out a fine uncredited arrangement. The Sterling label has a Boston address and it is probable that the recordings were made there.
Thanks to Eli “Paperboy” Reed for the suggestion.
