That's where it's at - YOUNGSTOWN 606

Modern Soul Trio

This one off by the very obscure Modern Soul Trio may be the rarest 45 on Chips Moman's Youngstown label but it’s a real beauty. Vying with Johnnie Taylor and the Sims Twins for the title of the best version of Sam Cooke’s great number That’s Where It’s At, this cut features some excellent vocal interplay and harmonies straight from the church over a classic 60s Memphis backing. A deep soul legend. What more could you want? Well maybe some horns – and also the large amount of money required to purchase the 45 thanks to the extreme Northern interest in the rather weak flip.
