I can't live without you - MALA 551

Jay Robinson

This deliciously melodic ballad is the only 45 that Jay Robinson ever cut - but what a winner. Coming across somewhere between deep and sweet soul - rather like the Blues Brothers #1 disc - Robinson's clear and flexible tenor voice really delivers the goods over a sympathetic male group, the Dynamics. It goes without saying that the Muscle Shoals musicians do their usual first class job on ListenI Can't Live Without You. Love the gentle vibes (Spooner Oldham?) and Junior Lowe's tasteful "trembly" guitar. The flip is a pretty fair update to James & Bobby Purify's big hit. Both sides are a credit to arranger/co-producer Spooner Oldham and co-producer Papa Don Schroeder.
