Freddie South

This is an unusual Nashville 45 that has captured some good publicity in the last few months. “Set Me Free” is a worthy dance floor item that has a fine vocal from Mr South, his tenor voice easing into some falsetto bursts in a very appealing manner. For me though ListenI’ll Be Watchin’ Over You is the side to savour. A well arranged gentle ballad on which Freddie again sounds completely at home, his voice soaring over the background singers. The label and the artist are pretty much unknown. There have been suggestions that it might be Fredie Waters but it doesn’t sound too much like him to me. Any thoughts?
