Starettes
Stan Lewis’ long running Jewel label is full of obscure discs – many of them worthy of better recognition. And they don’t come much simpler than this down home deep soul cut. Just a guitarist, bassist and drummer putting out a rudimentary series of chords over which 3 females chant about their man. But of course that’s why it’s so effective as the lead singer – whoever she is – puts on a great show of genuine emotion. It’s finding discs like this that keeps all music fans keeping on.
