Universals
As far as I know this is the only 45 by this set of Universals but it really is worth seeking out. While "For The Sake Of A Dollar" is strong uptempo soul - and has even had some plays on the dance scene - the better side is Sparkling. This beat ballad has considerable force thanks to the rasping and highly effective lead voice. Love his falsetto bursts - straight from David Ruffin. The harmony vocals are good as well and the punchy arrangement from veteran Robert Banks is spot on. The Cooking label has a New Jersey address.
