Jannie Williams

Johnny Copeland’s superb “Down On Bending Knees” was easily the biggest seller that Houston TV repairman and sometime label owner Charlie Booth ever had on his Golden Eagle label. So it’s not surprising that he wanted to continue the good times with an answer disc – and with Copeland’s assistance ListenGet Up Off Your Knees was put together for the unknown Jannie Williams. The backing track is identical to the Copeland hit and Jannie comes across as a tough cookie in her own right, clearly not taking any stuff from her man. The other side I’ve Been True us a slow Texas blues shuffle on which Williams drawls her way through her tale of fidelity without any conviction at all – great stop-go arrangement.
