Francine Carr

Chips Moman's Memphis label is never less than interesting and artists like Isaac Hayes and Jeb Stuart both had releases on it. Perhaps the best 45 on Youngstown was by the Modern Soul Trio but this fine couple of tracks by Francine Carr is worthy of more attention than it has so far received.

I Will Always Be In Love With You is a strong ballad complete with pumping piano, well arranged horns and some nice guitar fills, and Francine is suitably straight forward to match the simplicity of the lyric. The funky flip is a very fine answer to Brother James' huge hit.
