Versitiles

In many ways this early soul disc from the obscure Versitiles is reminiscent of other New York group 45s from artists like the Five Bosses. Same level of obscurity, similar soulful lead vocals and doo wop backings. And like those other releases it merits much greater recognition for its transitional nature. The lead singer here is very emotional indeed on ListenLove Me – much more and he’d be in need of treatment. But that just how obsessives like me like their singers to behave – right on the edge – and the guy here certainly doesn’t disappoint.

But the group's second 45 does disappoint sadly. Neither side has the charm or the emotional impact of "Love Me" unfortunately.
